What is the Legal group responsible for?


The Luxembourg Legal department provides assistance on a variety of Luxembourg legal and cross border legal and regulatory matters in relation with Franklin Templeton flagship Funds distributed in 52 countries as well as other Luxembourg based mutual funds (UCITS and Alternative Investment Funds).


The work also consists in any type of corporate and contractual matters (IMAs, distribution, TA, ) linked to Luxembourg and Irish domiciled funds as well as FT domiciled corporate entities, including the biggest single management company based in Luxembourg with 11 branches.

What are the ongoing responsibilities of a Senior Corporate Counsel?- Provides legal guidance on enterprise-wide and critical business issues. Develops relationships with key business stakeholders.

(required)- Independently completes legal review and analysis relating to regulatory and litigation events, new laws/regulations/FAQ) (required)- Independently prepares materials such as fund offering documents, contracts, Investment Management Agreements (IMAs), subpoena responses, regulatory filings, disclosure documents, as well as transactional and structuring work that are complex and sensitive in nature (depending on current organizational priorities and resource constraints, this percentage can greatly increase).

(required)- Partner with/instructs external counsel independently on routine as well as non-routine matters and manages external counsel time in an efficient and appropriate manner.

(required)- Shapes direction and content of correspondence, as well as interactions on complex issues with relevant regulator. (required)- Participates in industry advocacy groups and lobbying efforts, including internal research, communication and position taking.

(required)- Manages non-attorney staff if required and supervises activities of other attorneys within or outside direct reporting line on a project or ad-hoc basis.

What qualifications, skills and experience would help someone to be successful?- Post-graduate

Certificate Program:
Law (preferred)- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience: Law (preferred)- Minimum 8 years since post qualified experience- Previous experience gained as an in-house lawyer (preferred)- Proven experience presenting at board level- Strong decision-making skills- Excellent communication skills
