The Global Materials Science Group in Goodyear's Luxembourg Innovation Center is responsible for identifying, developing, and industrializing new material technologies for Goodyear's product lines.

Teams within the department are responsible for providing Goodyear a sustainable competitive advantage in tire performance and manufacturing resulting from best-in-class material technology.

Associates work with cross functional product design teams and production to establish performance and manufacturability targets for tires and tire components.


Main tasks:


  • Developing and maintaining industry leading tire compounds for optimal performance while considering cost and environment.
  • Designing laboratory studies to evaluate material technologies, and interpreting the results based on the underlying chemistry and physics of the materials being studied.
  • Provide onsite assistance during plant trials as required.
  • Effective communication and collaboration with laboratories, design teams, customers, and manufacturing to ensure successful development and technology transfer.

To join our team, you will need:


Education:

Master, or PhD degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or Materials.


Languages:


  • Fluency in English.
  • Knowledge of French and/or German will be considered as an asset

Experience:


  • Experience in understanding structure/property relationships in materials is necessary.
  • Deep knowledge of polymers, fillers, and/or reinforced composites is required.
  • Experience in elastomeric formulation is an asset
  • Proficiency in the statistical design and analysis of experimental data is required.
  • Tire plant experience in mixing/component preparation and with tire production processes are an asset.

IT, Soft Skills & others:


  • Strong ability to work in multidisciplinary teams will be required.
  • Exceptional communication and technical documentation skills will be required.
  • The associate needs to be open minded, dynamic and collaborative with a strong sense of urgency.
  • Limited travel (10 %) within Europe.
