The
European Investment Fund (EIF) is seeking to recruit for its
Investment Compliance and Eligibility Division - Equity Unit at its headquarters in
Luxembourg, a
Trainee - Investment Compliance and Eligibility.



Duration:
five (5) months &

_ Specific Post Environment:
_


In the context of its Equity activity, EIF provides access to finance to SMEs through private equity and venture capital funds, mainly operating as a fund-of-funds.

EIF's equity activity is funded through both its own share capital as well as funding resources entrusted by third parties to EIF as a manager/advisor (the "Mandates").


In its capacity as mandate manager/advisor, EIF is under the obligation to carry out ex ante (for new fund investees) and/or ex post (for every fund and mandate portfolio) controls on the equity operations, to ensure that the Mandates are effectively and correctly implemented.

In that respect, the Investment Compliance and Eligibility Division (ICE) assumes the central responsibility for monitoring eligibility parameters within the EIF, thereby ensuring high quality implementation of the Mandates requirements through the funds supported.


_ Overall objective:
_


You will be primarily involved in the maintenance, development and further automation of the internal processes of the Investment Compliance and Eligibility Division (ICE) - Equity Unit.


_ Responsibilities_:

Under the guidance of a senior officer, you shall:

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of new processes in order increase the automation of ICE Equity controls;
  • Design automated reports and calculations to support the controls performed by ICE Equity;
  • Develop online forms and/or other tools to exchange information and documentation with Fund Managers for the purpose of monitoring visits;
  • Perform data quality controls and support the maintenance of the data under the responsibility of ICE Equity (investee companies, monitoring rules, etc.);
  • Support ICE Equity members on their controls performing different activities such as:
  • Gathering information on Investee Companies from external databases and performing data imports;
  • Inputting and testing rules/parameters to control Private Equity portfolios;
  • Supporting the investment compliance assessment of the private equity portfolio in light of these rules/parameters;
  • Analysing the potential breaches;
  • Produce adhoc statistics and reports on ICE Equity activities.

_ Expected outcome:
_


  • Further automation on ICE equity processes.
  • Production of control reports.
  • Data maintenance. Identification and correction of wrong data detected.

_Qualifications:
_


  • University degree in a quantitative discipline/field, including mathematics, engineering or computer science.
  • Relevant first (shortterm) professional experience in business analytics, database management or process optimisation.
  • Proven ability working with spreadsheets and reporting software (Excel, Business Objects, Tableau or others). Some knowledge of VBA or SQL will be considered an advantage.
  • Good knowledge of project management principles, methods and practices.

  • Demonstrate proactivity, capability to work autonomously under given objectives and organise own work effectively even under time pressure.
  • Excellent knowledge of English, both oral and written. Knowledge of other EU languages would be an advantage.
  • Good interpersonal skills, openminded and resilient;
  • Attention to detail.
