The
EIB, the European Union's bank, is seeking to recruit for its Legal Directorate (JU), Operational Policy, Mandates and Non-EU Operations Department (OPS-POL), Restructuring, Funds and Venture Debt Division (RFV), at its headquarters in Luxembourg, a
(Associate) Banking and Finance Lawyer.
This is a full time, temporary position at grade 4/5.
The term of this contract will be 1 year; _as this is a temporary replacement assignment, no extension or conversion of the contract is foreseen._**- _internal benchmark: (Associate) Officer Legal Services_
- Panel interviews are anticipated for beginning of October 2023._
Purpose:
The Restructuring, Funds and Venture Debt Division (RFV), deals with the legal documentation and legal issues for debt restructuring, fund investments and venture debt.
Operating Network:
You will assist the Head of Division and Head of Department, together with other legal advisers, in providing legal support to the operational directorates, carrying out work related to all tasks within the remit of the Division.

You will carry out work related to all of the Division's responsibilities and work independently on the Division's operations
You will:
- Prepare terms of reference for external counsel and other consultants, liaise and supervise their work, whenever necessary.
- Contribute to the formulation of legal policies in the area of activity of the Division and make recommendations for the implementation of new methods and procedures within your area of expertise.
- Contribute to the development of standard legal documentation for the Division's operations and to the sharing of knowledge on legal documentation for the Bank's products.
- Contribute to research on legal matters in within the remit of the Division's activities.
- Develop and maintain constructive relationships with other directorates within the Bank.
Qualifications:
- University degree (minimum an equivalent to a Bachelor) in law, preferably at Master level.
- At least 3 years of relevant experience preferably in the field of banking and finance acquired with a firm of international repute or the inhouse department of a financial institution.
- Significant experience in the drafting and negotiation of finance documentation in English.
- Experience in the area of structured finance would be an advantage.
- Very good knowledge of the standard computer tools.
- Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English. Fluency in other languages, French and/or German in particular, would be an advantage.
