    Within the Network Management Directorate, the EUROCONTROL Aviation Learning Centre (EALC) in Luxembourg supports European aviation by providing a unique and best-in-class learning experience aimed at aviation professionals.

    The EALC provides a wide range of online and in-person courses, tools and services. The aim is to add value to stakeholders in the EUROCONTROL Member States and beyond, with a constantly expanding learning portfolio delivered across multiple learning channels.

    Your role will be to:

  • Maintain on a daily basis the various simulation and training systems and deal with all related IT aspects (e.g. system administration, network).
  • Support end users (e.g. instructors, internal/external application experts), troubleshoot and resolve incidents, and suggest changes to increase the efficiency of the systems and customers' satisfaction.
  • Translate requirements from end users into technical solutions and implement changes in coordination with internal / external IT suppliers, user groups or (ad-hoc) contacts with stakeholders (e.g. instructors, application experts, management, etc.).
  • Test new or modified systems in collaboration with all parties involved (i.e. instructors, IT suppliers) and adapt them as necessary.
  • Perform a "technology watch" and assess current and future systems to contribute to their improvement and evolution.
  • Participate and coordinate projects to improve systems/tools (simulators, applications, etc.) with relevant parties (instructors, IT services, service providers, etc.).
  • Monitor and maintain the security of the simulation and training systems in coordination with the Security team and IT suppliers.
  • Carry out any other task in line with the main purpose of the job including participation to the procurement process (e.g. drafting technical specifications, participating to evaluation).

    • Required Qualifications, Experience & Competencies:

  • Completed post-secondary education and professional experience of three years or completed university studies of three years plus one year professional experience, or completed university studies of four years. Studies in a relevant domain (e.g. Information Technology) will be a strong asset.
  • Relevant professional training of an equivalent level will be considered.
  • In addition to the above, a minimum of 3 years' relevant experience to perform the advertised tasks including system and network administration.
  • Experience with the administration of various environments (e.g. Windows, Linux, server and clients, hosted or cloud based, application and databases servers).
  • Experience in the use of scripting and programming languages.
  • Experience in supporting technical activities (e.g. 1st or 2nd level support, incident and problem management).
  • Experience in the following is considered an advantage:
  • ATC Simulators
  • VoIP solutions – Voice Communication Systems
  • Testing applications
  • Web application development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, C#, SQL)

    • Training domain:

  • Implementing IT security best practices over system, networks and web applications.

  • The working languages of the Agency are English and French.
  • For this particular job, candidates must be proficient users of English at level C1. The selected candidate will be required to become, at least, a basic user of French at level A1 before the end of the probation period. Candidates already at level B1 will have an advantage.
