The
European Investment Fund
(EIF) is seeking to recruit for its
Equity Investments & Guarantees Department - Diversified Debt Funds Division at its headquarters in
Luxembourg, Debt Fund Investment Analyst(s) / (Senior) Manager(s).

This is a full/part time position (travel required) at grade 4/5 and/or 5/6 for which the EIF offers a permanent contract.

This is a generic campaign in the view of both current and possible future vacancies.

Panel interviews via video-conference are anticipated for March / April 2023.

Purpose:

_**With 75 investments in senior private credit funds, the EIF has played since 2014 a significant role in building and growing the asset class in Europe and steering the market towards sustainable credit strategies, identifying players with strong potentials and robust ESG policies.


You will operate as investment professional within the European private credit market and assume as main responsibility the origination, screening, due diligence and execution of funds' investments in compliance with the EIF's investment targets and fund selection process.

The position offers a unique opportunity for professional development and significant market exposure in the private credit space.


_ Operating Network:
_

You will report to the Head of Division within the Credit Market Products Department.

With English being the operating language, you will work in close cooperation with all members of the Division, many other EIF services, and with a wide range of external stakeholders (including fund managers, other institutional investors, SME credit specialists and legal firms).


You will contribute to the achievement of the annual Division targets, in terms of number and volumes of funds invested; as well as thematic goals.


_ Responsibilities:
_

At a level commensurate with your experience and seniority, you will:

  • Take responsibility for / assist in (for less experienced professionals) business plan implementation across assigned geographies in Europe, based on market research and proactive networking. Accountability for a good portion of the annual Division targets is a prerequisite for the (Senior) Manager role.
  • Evaluate investment opportunities, including meeting with investment teams, conducting reference checks, investment modeling, and performing other qualitative and quantitative analyses, using sound judgement, and respecting preset deadlines. Taking leadership of investment execution within preset deadlines is a prerequisite for the (Senior) Manager role, while the Analyst will operate under the supervision of senior members and/or Head of Division.
  • Prepare sharp screening notes to preliminary assess funds' strengths/weaknesses and fit to the EIF's investment target, for the purpose of identifying the most compelling investment opportunities.
  • Prepare well written/comprehensive due diligence reports and well written/well thought out investment proposals in English, as part of due diligence teams. Due diligence tasks include carrying out thorough qualitative and quantitative analyses of funds' target net return, adjusted for portfolio risk.
  • Proactive contribution to the development of a network of highquality external counterparties (management firms and other institutional investors). Taking active role in implementing new mandate resources for private credit is a prerequisite for the (Senior) Manager role.
  • Actively monitor the competitive landscape and maintain a forward calendar of upcoming investment opportunities. The Analyst role requires conducting periodic thematic research and presentations by analyzing and monitoring primary sources of data, to identify investment trends, risks and opportunities.
  • Monitor the performance of existing investments in collaboration with other team members and other EIF services.

_ Qualifications:
_


  • At least 3 years of postgraduation (after having obtained your initial university diploma) relevant professional experience at the same level of responsibility for the Analyst role and 5 years for the Manager, preferably in major financial institution(s) or investment management/consultancy firm(s);
  • Proven track record of experiences in investment management and/or corporate lending/structured finance would be considered a plus for the Analyst role and a prerequisite for the (Senior) Manager role;
  • Any or combination of the following will be an advantage:
  • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) or Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) designation or specific track-record in private debt funds;
  • Solid corporate risk/financial analysis and portfolio modelling skills, preferably in the SME / midcap asset class;
  • Knowledge of EIF's operational framework and interinstitutional relationship between European Investment Bank (EIB) and European Commission (EC);
  • Experience with presenting own investment activity at investors' due diligences and/or advising investor
