Description

Within the Translational Medicine Operations Hub, the competence Centre for Methodology and Statistics (CCMS) is a support unit for researchers offering a unique combination of clinical trial expertise, translational and epidemiological studies design and analysis, and research management of data.

CCMS brings a unique set of high quality, innovative data management and biostatistics services together with new technologies and expertise to support researchers to have access to their data faster.

The Biostatistician is mainly responsible for providing support in the design, analysis and reporting of epidemiological, translational and clinical studies.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:


  • Give advice on the design of studies of research projects, when needed
  • Propose innovative and adequate methods for epidemiological, translational and clinical studies
  • Develop the statistical analysis plans for such projects and studies
  • Calculate the necessary sample size for projects suggested by researchers.
  • Check the quality of the data communicated by researchers
  • Carry out the statistical analyses, write up the statistical report and discuss it with researchers
  • Participate in the drafting of publications (statistical methodology and results), the preparation of lectures related to the work carried out
  • Participate in the drafting of standard operating procedures for the unit
  • Understand and respond to the statistical needs from colleagues and clients working in Life Sciences.
  • Develop methodological research from unsolved problems arisen from research project

KEY SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:


  • PhD/Master with Experience in statistics, biostatistics or epidemiological methods (or similar qualifications).
  • Previous professional experience of at least 5 years in a similar position.
  • Experience in the design of studies is an asset
  • Experience in a clinical research centre is an asset
  • Constructive attitude, flexibility, outgoing and serviceoriented
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, especially in a research environment as well as with medical practitioners
  • Collaborative individual, naturally curious and passionate about learning and solving complex problems rapidly
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to adapt to a dynamic and fastpaced environment, in full autonomy
  • Good negotiation skills
  • Ability to work in a team
  • IT skills: SAS and R, Microsoft Office.
  • Language skills: Excellent written and spoken knowledge of English, French is optional but an advantage
